National Croissant Day

My grandson spun the wheel and won a giant croissant on the last croissant day. It was close to my birthday so I invited friends over to share in our bounty and help celebrate my birthday

First Lemon Tart

My favorite memory was taking my littlest daughter out to pick up our weekly loaf of bread. It was a perfect fall day, she picked out her own treat, and then we sat outside and enjoyed each others company while she experienced her first lemon tart. After, she helped me carry the big loaf of bread to the car. We don’t often get one on one time so it was a special memory for us.

Giant Croissant

I spun the prize wheel and won a giant croissant! I was so surprised and happy! At first, I didn't know what to do with it. Then we made sandwiches with it. It was so fun.

Alexandria Grand Opening

I'm not much for baking. I don't really have the patience needed for sifting, measuring, letting dough rise, etc. I am, however, a patron of the baking arts and I have respect for those who enjoy it and do it well.

My fondness for "things baked" led to a 4:30AM reveille on March 1, 2022. I and Gary, *my* lover AND a self-professed baked goods lover, made our way in the dark to Old Town Alexandria (Virginia) for the grand opening of the new location of Fresh Baguette. There we stood in line for TWO HOURS to enjoy the opening day promotion. It was hovering just above freezing, but we hardly even noticed, so engaged were we in chatting and trading stories with the other hardy souls who had decided to brave the early morning chill.

For what extraordinary treat would one leave the warmth of bed to stand in frigid, pre-dawn conditions, you ask?

We were seeking to be among the first 20 people in line to secure for ourselves free croissants for a year. And we were!

As if that weren't memorable enough, in a delightful turn of events, Gary was on the threshold of turning 56 and we were numbers 5 and 6 in line. 😍☺️

The promotion is long over, but the good feelings and memories go on and on.

Happy Birthday

My parents were in DC for my mom's birthday. We got a few different things from Fresh Baguette in Georgetown for lunch—quiche, ham and cheese croissants—and then concluded with a special birthday treat: a pistachio éclair. Everyone in my family loves pistachio, and we'd not seen that as an éclair flavor before, so it was a very easy choice.

We love having Fresh Baguette in the neighborhood; it makes order pick-ups a piece of cake (sometimes literally!). The smell alone when you walk by makes Fresh Baguette a wonderful neighbor to have.

Thank you, and happy 10th!

Best,

-Alexandra H.
